Privacy Policy — Lighthouses of Australia
Lighthouses of Australia is committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Who we are
Lighthouses of Australia is an independent reference website operated from Australia. Our contact email is hello@decisionlab.com.au.
What information we collect
We collect two kinds of information:
- Analytics data — when you visit the site, Google Analytics 4 records an anonymised session including your approximate location (country/region), device type, browser, pages you visit, and how you arrived. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
- Contact form submissions — if you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address and the content of your message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful and where visitors come from. Analytics data is held by Google under their privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Google AdSense
This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to personalise ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google's Ads Settings.
Google Fonts
We use Google Fonts to load typefaces. When you visit a page, your browser requests font files from Google's servers; Google may log your IP address in the process. This is a short-lived technical log, not tied to any Google Analytics identity.
Netlify hosting
The site is hosted by Netlify. Netlify logs HTTP request information (IP address, timestamp, URL requested, response code) in standard webserver logs for security and operational purposes. These logs are retained by Netlify and are governed by Netlify's privacy policy.
Cookies
This site uses cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and advertising (Google AdSense). It does not set its own first-party cookies for any other purpose. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some site features may not work correctly.
Your rights under Australian privacy law
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of any personal information that is inaccurate
- Request that we delete personal information we hold (subject to legal retention obligations)
- Make a complaint about our handling of your personal information
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@decisionlab.com.au. We'll respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained for 24 months after the last related correspondence, then deleted. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months (the default GA4 retention period).
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with a revised "last updated" date. This policy was last updated on 17 April 2026.
